Homemade Caramel Creamer

Ingredients:

– 1 cup heavy cream
– 1 cup milk (whole milk or any alternative milk of your choice)
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– Pinch of salt

Instructions:

1. **Prepare the caramel**: In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, heat the granulated sugar over medium heat. Let it melt without stirring, but you can swirl the pan occasionally to ensure even melting. Keep a close eye on it as it can burn quickly. Once the sugar is completely melted and turns into a golden caramel color, remove it from the heat.

2. **Add cream and milk**: Carefully pour the heavy cream into the caramelized sugar while stirring continuously. Be cautious as it may splatter. Once the cream is fully incorporated, add the milk and stir well.

3. **Heat and dissolve**: Return the saucepan to low heat and stir the mixture gently until the caramel is completely dissolved into the cream and milk mixture. This might take a few minutes. Make sure not to let it come to a boil.

4. **Add vanilla and salt**: Once the caramel is fully dissolved, remove the saucepan from the heat. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors. Allow the mixture to cool slightly.

5. **Strain (optional)**: If you prefer a smoother texture, you can strain the caramel creamer through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any caramel bits.

6. **Transfer to a container**: Pour the caramel creamer into a clean, airtight container. Allow it to cool completely before sealing the container.

7. **Serve**: Use your homemade caramel creamer to enhance the flavor of your coffee, whether it’s hot or cold. Add it according to your taste preference and enjoy!

– Store the homemade caramel creamer in the refrigerator for up to one week. Shake well before each use as it may separate slightly over time.
