Are you confused about the difference between cold brew and iced coffee? Don’t worry, it’s a common question among coffee lovers. Cold brew and iced coffee may seem like similar drinks, but they are actually quite different. Read on to learn more about the differences between these two coffee beverages and how to make cold brew at home.
Iced Coffee: What is it?
Iced coffee is a regular cup of hot brewed coffee that has been poured over ice. The coffee grounds are brewed with hot water, which is then cooled and poured over ice. Iced coffee is best served immediately after it is brewed, as the flavor can change once it sits.
Cold Brew: What is it?
Cold brew is coffee that is brewed using cold water. The coffee grounds steep in cold water for an extended period of time, usually anywhere from 12 to 24 hours. Due to the lack of heat in the brewing process, the coffee is less acidic and has a sweeter taste compared to traditional hot brewed coffee. The resulting coffee concentrate is then mixed with water or milk to create a delicious and refreshing drink.
